Hey y'all, it's one your favorite Support SHs here with another weekly update! Your other favorite SHs are, of course, [personal profile] domtheknight and [personal profile] chemicallace. With our trusty sidekick sparkle pony [personal profile] ysobel, we are your Dreamwidth Support Triumvirate + Pony, here to help! As always, contact info can be found here.

This is another short update; things have been slow around here lately, which is good because Chemla is off on vacation for a few weeks. I'm hoping she'll bring back chocolate for me. Support is like a box of chocola- wait, no, not going there.

  • [personal profile] jamie asked last week if we could post unofficial workarounds somewhere, like maybe the wiki. If you all think this would be helpful, let me know so that I can figure out what needs to be done to make this happen. You can just leave a comment on this entry letting me know your opinion. :)
  • I know that there are a lot of known bugs popping up on the boards recently and that some of you have been having a difficult time formatting answers that relay the important information in a condensed format. [personal profile] ct had a brilliantly phrased answer that works well for this purpose. It can be found here. You shouldn't ever copy/paste an answer, but you are more than welcome to use Caitrin's answer (or any other answer) as a guideline when writing your own. Great job, Caitrin!
Coincidentally, the bug we are seeing the most (other than feeds acting up) is Bug 1246, which is the bug that is causing the RTE to not show up during editing.
  • When you are looking for bugs in Zilla, check and see if there's a patch waiting in queue for the code push. If there is, it's ok to tell the user that we'll have it fixed within a couple of weeks and to be patient. If there's not a patch, you can just say that we're working on it, but we don't have a time frame for implementation yet.
  • A week or two ago, someone suggested in IRC that we post good answers here so everyone can take a look at 'em. I just remembered that this morning and so have been keeping an eye out for particularly good answers since, um, this morning. Our own [personal profile] wyntarvox posted a rather good answer recently. It was a good bit of detective work and a brilliant use of the supportmindread priv that made it great. Woo Wyn!
  • Congrats go out this week to [personal profile] ysobel, who reached 100 points, to [personal profile] liv, who reached 50 points and to [personal profile] not_a_sniglet, who got their very first point this week! YAY!
  • If there is anyone here who is particularly good with feeds, or would like to get really good with feeds, please PM me when you get a chance.
  • Yes, I know, some of you are still waiting on privs from a few weeks ago. We're working on it, I swear. If you need viewscreened and/or makeinternal, please fill out this poll.

I think that's all I've got for you this week. As I mentioned before, it's been pretty slow around here recently! If you're looking for more to do, you might want to check out [site community profile] dw_antispam or [site community profile] dw_dev. If you have any questions, PM me or pop your head into IRC and say hi. We don't bite (often).

Take care, and I'll see you next week!

Kat, on behalf of the Triumvirate + Pony
